Chelsea midfielder Matic: Past Arsenal record counts for nothing

The Spain worldwide was Chelsea’s match-winner on Tuesday night after the 29-year-old scored twice in extra-time to seal a 4-2 victory over reigning Premier League champions Leicester City in the third round of the League Cup.

Conte also revealed that Kurt Zouma, who suffered a knee injury during a Premier League game against Manchester United in February, would be joining training from next week. “I want to see this in all my players”.

“He’s a victor, he likes to win”, Hazard said of Conte in an interview with BT Sport. Chelsea conceded 53 goals last season.

My role is more or less the same as before, but the only thing is now I can play maybe a little bit more offensively, maybe 10 per cent more than last season.

With Chelsea not winning their last two league games, Conte’s team are under pressure to get their season back on track with a win at the Emirates against their London rivals. “When we concede goals [such as at Leicester], all the team conceded, not just the defenders”, Conte said.

“We like him a lot”. Past year we were a bit unlucky at Chelsea to be down to 10 men because we got a red card and it was rescinded after.

“I’m seeing him very focused, very concentrated, during the training sessions”.

“We must work a lot on this aspect because if you want a great championship you mustn’t concede so many goals”. “Cesc is an intelligent player, a clever player and he sees the game, he feels the situation”.

“Not playing hurts but I know I am good enough for this team and I will give everything to play”. They are a good team with young players who are a good technical, footballing team.

“Sometimes I think it is important to value a manager not only if he wins, loses or draws”.

Asked about Conte as a coach he replied: “He’s a great coach with a special philosophy, we like him”.

“I’m sure that we are working to try and improve, and reach a high level in every game”.

“But I’m confident about this and trust in the work”.
