Broncos Linebacker Von Miller Dominate as Denver beats the Colts
Colts fans can find hope in the fact things can change dramatically over the course of a 16-game National Football League season. After one, Luck said about the only thing he could say to Miller: “good sack”.

The Colts secondary continued to suffer injuries, as Darius Butler exited the game after injuring his hamstring while returning an interception for what looked like a sure touchdown. “I know we’re 0-2 again, but we’ll continue to grind”. Hoping for change isn’t the same as seeing evidence to expect change, unfortunately.
Denver Broncos unveil new signage in their stadium honoring players who have had their jerseys retired: John Elway’s No. 7, Floyd Little’s No. 44 and Frank Tripucka’s No. 18, before an NFL football game against the Indianapolis Colts, Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016, in Denver.
Denver Broncos linebacker Shane Ray celebrates after scoring with outside linebacker Von Miller (58) … It’s not even close. After an opening drive miss from 54 yards out, he drilled home four consecutive field goals to put away the Colts. Ware left the game later with an elbow injury and did not return.
But on the Colts’ first play from the 25-yard line, Von Miller rushed in and forced a strip sack.
And he did it, sweeping past left tackle Joe Reitz and punching the ball out of Luck’s hands. That’s good, right? That meant Allen could at least delay Miller, chip him, before going out as a receiver.
Super Bowl 50 MVP Von Miller harassed Andrew Luck all afternoon, racking up three sacks and forcing a fumble that was returned for a score. Quarterback Brock Osweiler has done enough to keep Houston in games, and they upgraded big time at the skill positions. I’m not a coach.
“I know Andrew would love to have it back”, Colts coach Chuck Pagano said of the pick-6 that gave Denver a 23-13 lead. If that was part of offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski’s plan, it was a bad plan.
As the running game improves, the Broncos will improve.
Talib has the most interception returns for a touchdown among active players and ranks fourth on the league’s all-time list.
None of the last five opponents have topped 20 points, and overall since the start of 2015, only six of the last 21 Orange & Blue foes have scored 21 or more points.
After the game, it was one of the plays Pagano said the Colts would like to have had back and one Luck was still lamenting Monday. In that situation, a punt isn’t the worst potential outcome.
The defense couldn’t stop the Detroit Lions from driving down the field and kicking the game-winning field goal in the final 37 seconds of the Week 1 loss.
But the Denver offense, gaining some traction late under quarterback Trevor Siemian, drove inside the red zone, leading to a 35-yard field goal by Brandon McManus, his fourth of the day. He completed 22 of 33 passes for 266 yards.
-Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib has demonstrated a knack for turning interceptions into touchdowns over the course of his career.
Looking at the next 4 games for the Colts, it does not get much easier. And if that’s the case, it all starts with the defense, which manages to make play after play when the Broncos need it the most. To add sprinkles on top of an unbelievable hot fudge sundae already, the Raiders let one go earlier this afternoon as well as they fell to the Atlanta Falcons.
After Sunday’s victory, which put the defending NFL champions alone atop the AFC West with a 2-0 record, Talib opened up to NFL Media about the immediate aftermath of the shooting, during which a bullet entered through the rear of his right thigh and exited his right calf.
Defense was the name of the game for the Broncos. However, in the past two years, after starting 0-2, the Colts were able to string together a series of wins to get themselves right back into the division and playoff races. We gave ourselves, we gave ourselves a chance to win that game.
The defense was giving the Broncos all the momentum they could and the offense did their best to give it back to the Colts.
