The Sheriff’s Office said the suspect is in custody, but Stamey Cove Road remains closed.

He said he spoke by phone with people living near the church, and they said multiple shots were fired. No law enforcement officer was injured. Deputies set up a perimeter surrounding the church.

There were no other individuals or shooting victims located at the church, as a caller had claimed. As with all officer involved shooting investigations, the investigative report will be delivered to the District Attorney’s office once complete.

“He was secured and being treated by EMS”, Warren said of the man after the stand-off. “It’s gotta be some insane random thing”. “It is our desire to be a truly New Testament church”. No officers were injured.

The road nearby the rural church has been shut down for several miles. The call of shots fired came in at 3:15 p.m.
