Man dies 3 days after fight with police officers
Boyd died the same day the county prosecutor announced he would not charge an officer who killed Korryn Gaines, a 23-year-old black woman.

Tawon Boyd, 21, of the unit block of Akin Circle, died Wednesday afternoon at a local hospital, where he has been since Sunday morning, police said. The author of the police report described Boyd as “confused and paranoid”. They say he tried to get inside several police cars and then began fighting officers, injuring three of them.
When five BCP officers arrived on scene, Boyd was allegedly acting unusual.
“I said, ‘You are hurting him, hurting him.’ He kept saying, ‘Grandma, they trying (sic) to kill me”.
However, his fiancé Deona Styron tells reporters that Boyd told officers he could not breathe.
After receiving the substance, he became so calm that the officer asked a medic to check Boyd for a pulse. “Call the police.” Police say they tried to talk to him and chose to take him to a hospital for an emergency evaluation.
One man was fatally shot and another suspect detained Friday by police in the USA city of Baltimore, Maryland, local media reported.
“He on the ground, five other police officers like on top of him”, Styron said.
There was “swelling on the brain and fluid on the brain because the doctors attempted to drain that”, claimed attorney Francis-Williams, adding, “My understanding is his kidneys end up failing and at some point, his heart stops”.
Internal investigations are occurring while an autopsy to determine the cause of death is performed.
Boyd was 5-foot-5 and 150 pounds, according to court records. “Officer Bowman controlled Suspect Boyd’s head and arms by holding him down with his arms while [the report author] held Suspect Boyd down by leaning on his buttocks/thigh area with my knees and using my arms”.
She told the Sun that police even threatened her with arrest as she begged them to ease up.
“Mr. Boyd was in need of medical attention, and the police responded with violence”, she said.
According to the police incident report: “The call stated that there is a female yelling in the background”. EMS personnel said Boyd had a heartbeat before he was taken to the hospital, according to the report. Boyd’s grandmother, Linda Burch, confirmed Boyd’s behavior and told the Baltimore Sun that he “was acting kind of unusual, like he was on something”. Police said medical privacy laws prevent them from detailing the treatment. The confrontation with police lasted about five minutes, and five officers were involved, the report said. Boyd’s uncle Prinice Thomas told the Associated Press that Tawon had never, to his knowledge, used any sort of drug besides marijuana.

Kelly Carter, executive director for the Liberty Road Business Association, said the two cases have reinforced her concerns that the county’s police department needs to work on community relations.
