US shopping centre shooting: Suspect Arcan Cetin in custody

“Someone ran by and said, “There’s an active shooter in the mall” and told us to lock our gate”, Doc Barron, who had been teaching a boxing class at the mall, told the Skagit Valley Herald.

Authorities have detained a 20-year-old man on suspicion of involvement in Friday’s shooting incident which killed five people at a Washington state mall.

Keith Leary says he was apprehended in Oak Harbor, 28 miles west of Burlington. The local police authorities said that the suspect, identified as Arcan Cetin, 20, has been taken into custody. The weapon was recovered but the suspect remained at large early Saturday.

The attack was the seventh time this year in which at least four people were killed in a shooting in Washington, according to The Seattle Times.

Cammock confirmed that Cetin is a legal permanent resident of the US who had immigrated from Turkey.

Cetin’s family, who immigrated from Turkey when Cetin was a child, was said to be cooperating with authorities.

The suspect was unarmed, said the officer, and was carrying a computer and some personal items in a bag.

Cetin is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
