New Apple iPhone officially hits stores Friday

But Abhey Lamba, managing director and senior technology analyst at investment bank Mizuho Securities USA, said the thin inventory at stores could be a sign that Apple was expecting a quieter than usual release and reduced supply accordingly. “As is typical, those who re-ordered the iPhone 7 tend to be Apple loyalists”, the company said.

Apple fans queueing outside its flagship store in Covent Garden this morning have expressed their preference for the iPhone 7 over the iPhone 7 Plus.

Apple underestimated the demand for its upcoming iPhone 7 Plus, especially the Jet Black model which has been the most sought after iPhone model since it got up for pre-order.

The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus is released in China beginning from Sept 16.

But because of issues with Apple’s supply chain, it’ll be awhile before many customers can get their hands on the phone.

Some 200 people were gathered in Sydney light drizzle for the privilege of being the first worldwide to hold an iPhone 7.

In Singapore, some fans set up tents to camp out on Thursday night in a bid to be the one of the first few to get their hands on the handsets. Apple Inc. unveiled the latest iterations of its smart phone, the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, the Apple Watch Series 2, as well as AirPods, the tech giant’s first wireless headphones. It’s perhaps sign of the digital age; the new jet black device and the 7 Plus have mostly sold out in advance online.

In Hong Kong, some customers were seen near the Apple store in the Causeway Bay shopping district, reselling new phones at a profit. “But I can wait two to three weeks”.

According to the Apple website, the iPhone 7 Plus jet-black version is not shipping until sometime in November when purchased in the U.S. The iPhone is Apple’s lifeblood, accounting for more than half of the company’s revenue.
