Update 9/22, 1:40 p.m.: TMZ is now claiming that the case against Brad Pitt has been referred to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, as LAPD “did not have jurisdiction because the alleged incident occurred in the air, on a flight from France to the U.S”.

The FBI said it is evaluating whether it should investigate allegations against Brad Pitt, whose split with actress Angelina Jolie was revealed on Tuesday.

Several media outlets reported that on September 14, an intoxicated Pitt became violent with his children while flying on a private jet from France to Los Angeles.

In legal documents filed with the Los Angeles Superior Court, the Maleficent star asked for physical custody of the couple’s children – Maddox, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10 and eight-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne. “He is emphatic that it did not reach the level of physical abuse, that no one was physically harmed”.

Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in L.A. on Monday, stating that she and Pitt had separated on September 15, a day after an alleged family fight on a private plane.

On Sept 22, the Los Angeles Police Department denied that it was conducting an investigation into Pitt.

The LAPD soon denied that they were actively investigating Pitt.

A source close to Pitt told USA Today that the Fight Club star meant to cooperate fully with any investigation and that he believed the child abuse allegations were baseless.

The Daily Mail reports that Pitt is staying at the couple’s Hollywood home, while Jolie and their kids are at their Malibu property.

“Brad has been interviewed and is cooperating fully”.

The source said Pitt has refrained from directing any “negativity” in order to resolve the divorce as quickly as possible for the sake of their children. “She will not be commenting at this time, and asks that the family be given their privacy during this hard time”.

Jolie cited irreconcilable differences in her divorce filing but didn’t elaborate on what those differences are.
