Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson has a torn meniscus
He told the station he has not yet ruled out Peterson for the game Sunday against Carolina and that the team was still exploring all the scenarios to treat the star running back.

“We just didn’t really have anything going for us”, veteran guard T.J. Lang said. Unable to put any weight on his right leg after the play, Peterson hopped off the field, and soon was taken to the locker room.
CLEVELAND – Josh McCown will miss at least one game with an injured left shoulder, forcing the Browns to start their third quarterback in three games. An MRI exam Monday detected the torn meniscus.
But the season-shattering scene of Peterson hobbling off the field was quickly flipped on its head when the cameras cut to the superstar making his way down the tunnel – or should that be through the restaurant.
Injury experts have speculated that Peterson could be sidelined anywhere from two weeks to three months, depending on whether he needs surgery and whether that procedure would be to trim the meniscus or reconstruct it.
Peterson’s knee left him with limited mobility, so the Vikings’ medical staff wanted the quickest path to the locker room.
A former No. 1 overall draft pick and Heisman Trophy victor out of Oklahoma, Bradford threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Kyle Rudolph with 10:14 left in the second quarter to tie the score 7-7.
It nearly seemed Sunday night that McCarthy and Rodgers were trying to open up the run game with long passes instead of the other way around.
The Vikings’ luck has to come from Peterson’s healing power, or from a positive doctor’s report.
Kendricks said the play was an opportunity to show the determination of the Vikings defense.
“Offensively, we’ve got a lot of work to do”, veteran guard T.J. Lang said. A full fix would likely end his season immediately. The recovery time is significantly less than a torn ACL and Peterson is expected to return sometime this season. “I think Shamar got a good surge, so being able to get them 1-2 yards in the backfield, now it becomes more of a fourth-and-4 situation when you get that type of penetration”.
The 2015 National Football League rushing leader, who had just 19 carries for 31 yards last week against the Tennessee Titans, was injured on his longest run of the night. Asiata said the experience he and McKinnon gained that season could prove beneficial. Asiata is good friends with Peterson. The Vikings running back is reportedly deciding between a partial fix that will cause him to miss four weeks, or a full fix that will require a four month recovery, according Yahoo Sports’ Charles Robinson. “It’s devastating to see your friend and your teammate go down”, Asiata said. Peterson, who missed nearly the entire 2014 season after being accused of assaulting his four-year-old son, returned to football last year to top the single-season rushing standings. “Obviously, when you see a guy go down like that any time, obviously your heart goes out to him and his family”.
As for the next game, the home opener against Detroit, McCarthy and Bennett said they’re not going to forget Lacy and Starks.
Mike Zimmer made the right call, starting Sam Bradford over Shaun Hill.
Peterson’s injury initially wasn’t believed to be too serious. “Everything we do is for the team”.

“We kind of had an idea of what we had coming off of past year and the last two or three games a little bit”, he said. “It’s just part of professional football”, Zimmer said. “We know he’s going to do that because that’s what he’s done all the time”.
