Back home, Packers look to get timing back against Lions

Opening in 1957, the Packers christened their new home with a 21-17 victory over the Chicago Bears on September 29 of that year.

This shouldn’t be happening. How much the Packers will be willing to play him there given his importance to special teams isn’t known. His trademark accuracy has slipped somewhat.

The irritated man in the locker room is also the only one who can fix them. Aaron Rodgers looks off, the offensive line is playing like swiss cheese, and the secondary can’t seem to stop even the most mediocre of passing attacks (just ask Sam Bradford).

“All things are in the Packers’ favor”, Schrager said. The Lions almost swept the season series, but Rodgers completed a last-second Hail Mary to Richard Rodgers for the game-winning score in their December 3 matchup. The puzzling move to cut Pro Bowl guard Josh Sitton didn’t help matters.

As monumental as the 1957 season was for Green Bay’s new stadium, their victory over the Bears on September 29 was the only home victory of the season.

But even the most beer-cheese-stuffed, barely-conscious, shirtless-in-January Cheesehead can see that those flaws do exist. With Green Bay’s rich history, it is not surprising that Lambeau Field is the NFL’s longest continually occupied stadium. This is not the production fantasy coaches were looking for when they drafted Cobb. Often in key situations too.

Rodgers is really itching for a big performance and he has had several against Detroit.

Rodgers anticipated the pointed questions that would come his way on Wednesday in the locker room. You guys got a job to do. It’s just whether or not you want to make it an excuse, and we’re not going to make it an excuse. And we appreciate that. “And once we pick up that first down, that first first down, I think a lot can flow after that”. The unit ranks seventh in the league in total yards (411.5 per game), and while that hasn’t translated into a ridiculous number of points – Detroit is tied for a respectable 12th in scoring at 27 points per game – they’ve gotten very good play from quarterback Matthew Stafford. They’ve at least earned that benefit of the doubt. But Rodgers is showing no signs of panic. This isn’t the powerhouse of five years ago.

“Just continue to work, try to get those guys as many catches as we can, before, after practice”, quarterback Matthew Stafford said.

That never happens a few years ago.

By almost every account from the Green Bay Packers’ locker room during Wednesday’s media availability, Aaron Rodgers was edgy and at least slightly irritated.
