The Tigers went on to beat the Indians, 9-5, at Progressive Field.

Cleveland pitcher Carlos Carrasco’s right hand was bruised by a line drive off the bat of Detroit’s Ian Kinsler on the second pitch of Saturday’s game.

Bauer’s wildness was costly to the Indians in the sixth inning.

RAYS 5, ORIOLES 2: Evan Longoria homered, tripled and scored three runs to help Tampa Bay win at Baltimore, blunting the Orioles’ playoff push. Francisco Rodriguez pitched the last 1 1/3 innings to pick up his 43rd save.

Tigers: 3B Nick Castellanos (broken left hand) began taking batting practice in Lakeland, Florida, on Saturday and could be activated off the disabled list early next week.

Ausmus said Victor Martinez had a welt on his knee, and Miguel Cabrera had a sore left hand, after getting hit by Bauer in the first inning. Anything can happen when 93-plus miles per hour fastballs are careening in all different directions. Bauer appeared to apologize as Kinsler walked to first base, after being checked out for a few minutes by athletic trainer Kevin Rand. Cabrera’s single off of Trevor Bauer loaded the bases with no outs.

“Kinsler is a little shaken”, Ausmus said.

Kinsler, who was noticeably shaken by the wild pitch, jogged to first base after meeting with trainers. “My process is the same every time I pitch”. Erick Aybar singled to right field field and Abraham Almonte was slow to throw home, allowing the Tigers to take a 3-2 advantage.

It was then that home plate umpire Jordan Baker issued warnings to both benches.

PHILLIES 8, MARLINS 0: Jeremy Hellickson pitched a three-hitter and A.J. Ellis had a three-run double to lead host Philadelphia over fading Miami.

Baltimore ace Chris Tillman (16-6) had a one-hitter and a 2-1 lead after five innings, but he failed to get out of the sixth. Ian Kinsler was hit in the head by a 93 m.p.h. fastball in the third inning.

Darvish (5-5) matched a career high by allowing seven runs in just five innings. He coughed up six runs on 10 hits in 5 2/3 innings. He walked two, hit three batters and had five strikeouts.

This is a pretty significant blow for the Indians, who are now leading the American League Central, and are fighting the Texas Rangers for the best record in the American League.
