Donald Trump asks Gennifer Flowers to U.S. presidential debate against Hillary Clinton

In making its endorsement, the Times drew a sharp contrast between Clinton, who served as a senator for NY from 2001 to 2009, and her political rival, GOP nominee Donald Trump.

The New York Times reported that Clinton’s preparations include a staffer, Philippe Reines, playing Trump and pursuing expected lines of attack including Bill Clinton’s sexual indiscretions.

Flowers’ show of support to the billionaire-turned-politician seems to be a complete U-turn from her stance nine years ago. Trump faces Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton in the first of three debates Monday.

The will-she-or-won’t-she attend flap began after Hillary Clinton’s campaign reportedly invited Mark Cuban, a Trump critic and owner of the National Basketball Association’s Dallas Mavericks, to the debate.

He brought the former president’s sex scandals into the campaign late a year ago around the time Hillary Clinton announced her husband would join her on the campaign trail.

It’s expected to be the most watched debate in US history. Trump has closed to an uncomfortable margin in the polls and her campaign badly needs a good night and some breathing room.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump gestures to the crowd during a rally in Roanoke, Va., Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016.

“Mrs Clinton has shown herself to be a realist who believes America can not simply withdraw behind oceans and walls, but must engage confidently in the world to protect its interests and be true to its values”, the newspaper said.

“This moment in history for a presidential election is not the time for a protest vote”, Sanders said.

In a response on Twitter, Trump mocked Cuban’s short-lived reality TV show “The Benefactor” – which was similar to Trump’s “The Apprentice”.

Trump’s advisers have coached the celebrity businessman to resist attempts by Clinton to provoke him with questions about his business record, wealth or contentious comments about minorities, including his fabricated theories about where Obama was born. And while she did not take legal action against him, that has not stopped Flowers from speaking against him and his wife. “So whether it’s in your physical space or verbally, I think it sets off alarms bells and it’s something that Donald Trump has to worry about”. According to reports leaked to the press, US President Bill Clinton admitted during a deposition in the Paula Jones investigation to having an affair with Flowers while he was governor of Arkansas.

Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook told Tapper on “State of the Union” that the episode reflected Trump’s broader campaign.

He quickly deleted the tweet only to write another one using the correct spelling of Flowers’ first name.

If nothing else, the debates will give viewers a chance to see the two candidates’ temperaments on display.
