Not only was Eddie Goldman the Bears’ best defensive lineman before going down Monday, other than Akiem Hicks, he’s the only Bears defensive llineman with the strength and bulk to stack the Cowboys’ front at the line of scrimmage. On offense they are, on defense they are not.
The Bears offensively are an absolute mess as they rank in the bottom of the league in every statistical category. Their offensive line hasn’t protected very well giving up eight sacks in two games. At other times, they want to look terrible. They are allowing opposing offenses to convert nearly 45% of their third downs.
The Bears will have a short night at AT&T Stadium unless the offense relieves Brian Hoyer of some pressure by running the football. That still doesn’t change some trepidation in the tone of this column.
Langford hasn’t been spectacular by any means the first two games of the season, but he has been able to find the end zone both weeks.
