Hillary Clinton Has a ‘Millennial Problem — Newsweek

Presidential nominees Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are complying with a request from the mayor of Charlotte, N.C., to postpone a visit to the key battleground state amid riots, demonstrations and other unrest sparked by a fatal police shooting of a black male.

“A lifetime’s commitment to solving problems in the real world qualifies Hillary Clinton for this job, and the country should put her to work”.

Hours later, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump’s campaigns said they were dropping plans to visit the city in the upcoming days, though neither campaign mentioned Jennifer Roberts’ plea.

This could be a sizable group: Some 22 percent of likely voters said in the latest poll that they do not support either major-party candidate.

Previously, the Clinton campaign could dismiss this as the ravings of conspiracy theorists – but with the pneumonia revelation, combined with Clinton’s perceived lack of honesty (68% see her as untrustworthy, compared with 43% for Trump), these rumours may well be given more attention in the coming weeks.

“After further discussion with community leaders, we have made a decision to postpone Sunday’s trip as to not impact the City’s resources”, Palmieri said in a statement.

In throwing their support behind the Democratic nominee, the paper said they were looking to reach out to undecided voters who were, “reluctant to vote for a Democrat, or for another Clinton, or for a candidate who might appear, on the surface, not to offer change from an establishment that seems indifferent and a political system that seems broken”. “Our hearts are heavy here today with what’s going on”.

The reason for Clinton’s visit has not been released.

“In the meantime her prayers are with the people of Charlotte during these hard days”, Palmieri continued.

Both visits could have come during the state of emergency that has followed Tuesday’s police shooting of Keith Lamont Scott and the violent protests that followed. Charlotte police say Scott was armed at the time he was fatally shot, but his family said he was reading a book in his vehicle when police officers approached and shot him.

“A lifetime’s commitment to solving problems in the real world qualifies Hillary Clinton for this job, and the country should put her to work”, the Times said of the former secretary of state and USA senator from NY.

In its first Democratic endorsement in a century, The Cincinnati Enquirer endorsed Clinton on Friday.
