US forces have already flown B-1B bombers to South Korea and these strategic bombers have conducted drills with fighters from the Japan Air Self-Defense Force.

South Africa shares the concerns of the global community regarding the nuclear weapon- and delivery system-related activities of the DPRK, the country’s Department of worldwide Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) said in a statement.

The nuclear test was conducted just a couple weeks after North Korea fired off a missile in the direction of Japan from a submarine in the Pacific Ocean, according to USA Today. After the meeting, the council condemned the test and pledged to immediately begin work on a new resolution imposing sanctions on the North.

The foreign ministers of South Korea, U.S., and Japan agreed to meet on Sunday in NY to hold talks on North Korea’s nuclear issue. It is unlikely to support extremely tough measures, such as cutting off the North’s crude oil supply.

The Security Council’s response should serve “the objective of resolving the Korean nuclear issue and safeguarding the peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula”, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying told reporters Wednesday.

One show, which has since been posted on Central TV’s YouTube channel, shows “President Obama” with a bandaged head, which he explains to an aide came from falling over in shock at North Korea’s claimed hydrogen bomb test, NK News says. Showing some separation from the administration, she said her new policy would include “an urgent effort to convince the neighbors, most particularly China, that this is not just a USA issue”, but theirs as well. “Of course there continue to be different views about sanctions”.

North Korea has been testing nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles at an unprecedented rate this year under young leader Kim Jong Un.

Shen Wenhui, a researcher at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, told influential state-run newspaper the Global Times last week that crippling sanctions would cause a “humanitarian disaster” in North Korea.

China’s concerns also include the larger issue of what Beijing sees as Washington’s attempts to surround it under Obama’s strategic “rebalance” towards Asia. This kind of exercise is carried out annually and constitutes a clear provocation to the government of North Korea. After the fifth nuclear test, North Korea is preparing for another. Besides THAAD, the dispute in the South China Sea, cybersecurity and human rights have marred ties between the world’s two biggest economies. The expert added that the North also has an estimated 32 to 54kg of plutonium reserves. The two aircraft took off from Guam and were escorted by two Japan Air Self Defense Force jets prior entering South Korean airspace, where South Korean fighters took over the escort.

Yet, those controversial talks at least had as their agreed objective the demise of the Iranian nuclear-weapons program.
