2 small planes collide in air and crash in western NY

Three people are dead after two planes collided midair over North Collins around 9:45 a.m. Sunday morning.

Brandon Wilczynski, a captain in the North Collins Fire Company, confirmed the number of deaths to The Buffalo News.

Tobia said he a man and a woman was on one of the planes and a man was aboard the other aircraft.

The debris from one of the two planes is on the north side of Jennings Road, the other plane is located on the south side of Jennings Road. Details on the extent of any injuries were not immediately released.

Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board have been notified, and the Erie County Sheriff’s Office is securing the scene for them.
