India attacks Pakistan at UNGA

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif told the United Nations that his country wants peace with India but asserted there can be no peace and normalization of relations between the two Asian neighbours until the Kashmir issue is fully resolved. However, this did not go down well with India.

“PM Sharif at #UNGA says India poses unacceptable conditions to dialogue. We just heard a speech full of threat, bluster and what can only be described as rising immaturity and complete disregard of facts”, he said.

“Not only is Pakistan an untrustworthy ally, Islamabad has also aided and abetted enemies of the U.S. for years”, Poe said.

The prime minister showed to the secretary-general pictures of the innocent and defenceless people of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, who have suffered the brutal use of force and atrocities at the state level, it said.

“Concerns over domestic politics and more importantly geo politics as Pakistan-India tensions mount after recent Kashmir attack, spooked investors and gave equities a good excuse to correct”, dailytimes.com quoting report by Elixir Securities said.

“Pakistan is not interested in an arms race with India”, said Nawaz.

Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan Chaudhry Muhammad Barjees Tahir hailed the Prime Minister for effectively presenting Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir issue.

He said it is “shocking” that a leader of a nation can “glorify a self-declared self-advertised terrorist” at a forum such as the United Nations General Assembly.

The UN Chief, however, did not mention the Kashmir issue during his last speech as the UN Secretary-General at the UNGA. Gambhir added that though Pakistan nuclear proliferation record talked about restraint, renunciation and peace, it was actually marked by “deception and deceit”.

Member National Assembly PML (N) Maiza Hameed said it was for the first time in the history of the country that an elected Prime Minister pleaded Kashmiri’s case for their right to self-determination in such a strong way. “The world has not yet forgotten that the trail of that dastardly attack led all the way to Abbottabad in Pakistan”, she said.

He further demanded an independent inquiry and a United Nations fact finding mission to investigate the situation in Kashmir.
