In a strong rejection of Sharif’s assertion that violations of human rights are being committed by Indian forces in “occupied” Jammu and Kashmir, Akbar said “the only occupation in Jammu and Kashmir, which is a part of India, is the occupation of a part of Jammu and Kashmir by Pakistan occupation army”.

India has blamed the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist outfit for the early morning attacks.

Coming down heavily on Sharif’s address in which he attacked India over Jammu and Kashmir, he further said that the speech was simply full of threats and missing facts.

Wani, arguably Kashmir’s most influential militant commander in recent times, was the root of the social media-driven psychological warfare in the disputed state.

He said Pakistan was also ready for talks to agree on a bilateral nuclear test ban treaty. Talks are in the interest of both countries.

The Pakistan Prime Minister referred to Wani, who was killed in an encounter with security forces on July 8, as a “young leader” and said he has “emerged as the symbol of the latest Kashmiri Intifada, a popular and peaceful freedom movement”.

Sharif said about the absence of dialogues between the two countries: “India posed unacceptable pre-conditions to engage in dialogue. The people of Kashmir have waited 70 years for implementation of this promise”, he said, adding the Security Council must honor its commitments by implementing its own decisions.

Masood Khan said the prime minister’s speech would have a positive impact as it was keenly listened to by the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan. In a reference to Jaish-e-Mohammad chief Masood Azhar and Mumbai terror attack mastermind Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, Gambhir said terrorist entities and their leaders, including many designated by the United Nations, continue to roam the streets of Pakistan freely and operate with State’s support.
