Taking video without having to hold a camera or phone is what allows Spectacles to offer first-person-like video. Of course the danger of having people take videos that violate others’ privacy is always there, which was one of the shortcomings of Google Glass (among other things). “What if you could go back and see that memory the way you experienced it?”

For now, very little information about the new gadget is out there, but we’d bet that you’ll be hearing about these new glasses for a long time. Snap Inc.is described on its website as “a camera company”.
Snapchat announced it is changing its name to Snap, Inc., Friday, to reflect business plans beyond its core app, and immediately announced its first hardware product: Spectacles.
If you weren’t addicted enough to Snapchat already, there will soon be a new way to record and share your most memorable moments.
The device, which the company is calling Spectacles, will record 10-second clips.
“Now that we are developing other products, like Spectacles, we need a name that goes beyond just one product”, Spiegel explained. The video is then synced to the user’s snapchat account via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.

Snap Inc. CEO Evan Spiegel rocked a pair for a Wall Street Journal article wherein he recounted testing a prototype in early 2015 while hiking with fiancée, Aussie supermodel Miranda Kerr. Though the obvious reason for this format is to give Spectacles videos a “point of view” look (like videos filmed using a GoPro), it also makes us wonder whether Spectacles will eventually come with a viewer as well as a camera, like Google Glass. Given the electronic nature of the sunnies, you probably shouldn’t wear them in the pool, and maybe not even when it’s raining – we don’t yet know if they’re waterproof.
