Clinton to press Trump to spell out policy plans in presidential debate
As many as 100 million viewers are expected to tune in Monday night for the first presidential debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, one that promises to be entertaining, if not blood pressure-raising.

How Holt, anchor of “NBC Nightly News”, referees the first general election matchup will be compared to that of network colleague Matt Lauer, criticized for for not immediately challenging Trump’s claim of early opposition to the Iraq War, experts said. Right now the election is closer than a lot of people anticipated, and so it matters a great deal for both of them..
“Any path we took, if I supported Donald, if I didn’t support Donald, the criticism was going to be there”, Cruz told a packed Austin auditorium during a policy forum organized by The Texas Tribune. “Trump needs to demonstrate some command of issues and resist being goaded into the sort of personal attacks that will nearly assuredly backfire against Clinton”.
On Saturday, Trump threatened to invite Bill Clinton’s former mistress, Gennifer Flowers, to the presidential debate on Monday.
With the first presidential debate right around the corner CNN’s Brian Stelter amped up his call for debate moderators to be fact-checkers, during Sunday’s Reliable Sources.
Trump has said he would work closely with North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies to defeat Islamic State and vowed to wage a “military, cyber and financial” war against the militant group. “I think Donald Trump always speaks straight from his mind and straight from his heart”. The Clinton campaign had invited Mark Cuban, a fellow billionaire and Trump rival, to the event. Trump doesn’t get to be graded on a curve because he has never run for president before.
“You know, I’m not sitting here – some little woman standing by my man like Tammy Wynette”, Hillary Clinton added. “I’m sure we’ll see it on full display tomorrow night”. In a September Washington Post-ABC News poll released Sunday, a full 57 percent said Trump is not honest and trustworthy, while 60 percent said the same about Clinton.
Later, however, Trump’s campaign manager Kellyanne Conway and his running mate, Indiana Governor Mike Pence, both said Flowers would not be a guest at the debate. She’s not very fond of the Second Amendment, of course, but she seems very fond of the Fifth Amendment. So Hillary Clinton’s casual relationship with the truth is well known to Americans. During the 2012 vice presidential debate, Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden and Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan notably discussed their views on abortion during their debate.
The two candidates get 90 minutes commercial-free to prove they’re better suited for the Oval Office, but the commercial blocks immediately before and after the debate may prove who the real winners are.
By all accounts, Clinton has spent weeks preparing for Monday night, including participating in mock debates in recent days.

Clinton’s aides, meanwhile, anxious publicly that Trump, a wealthy TV star and real-estate developer making his first bid for public office, would be held to a lower standard on the debate stage than Clinton, a former secretary of State who has spent decades in public life.
