Keenan Allen carted off field vs. Chiefs with knee injury

Smith threw for 363 yards and two touchdowns to rally his team from a three-touchdown hole, then scored from the 2 on third and goal on the first possession of overtime for an improbable 33-27 victory over the San Diego Chargers in their season opener Sunday. Each player knew that they played poorly in the first half and they all know that cannot happen again.

The Saints had a chance to win on the final play, but Wil Lutz’s 61-yard field-goal attempts was wide left.

San Diego Chargers linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu (97) sacks Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith (11) during the first half of an NFL football game in Kansas City, Mo., Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016. Everybody was going nuts, but I didn’t want to start celebrating. Cornerbacks Steven Nelson and Phillip Gaines also struggled to find any success early on, before shutting down the Chargers in the second half.

After talking about his ability on the offensive end, they continue, “Favors only began flashing high-level ball skills on a consistent basis over the past two years”.

Since Coach Reid’s arrival in KC, he has garnered three consecutive winning seasons, and to make it four in the parity driven National Football League, the Chiefs will have to win games such as the one they face on Sunday against a Division rival at home. “In the second half, we settled down and played like we normally play”.

A fourth-quarter decision by San Diego head coach Mike McCoy helped spark the Kansas City comeback. Smith finished it with his keeper on third-and-goal from the 2-yard line as the Chiefs flooded off their bench to celebrate. Josh Lambo’s kick sailed wide right and Kansas City took over at their own 44-yard line.

Running back Spencer Ware sent the game into overtime with a touchdown run on the next play.

“I thought he was going to make it”, McCoy said of the 54-yard field goal try. “Other than that, we’ve been a good group for three and four years now and it’s starting to show”.

GORDON WAS GOOD: Melvin Gordon ran for the first two touchdowns of his career Sunday. I just think everybody kind of put their foot down and said: ‘Let’s go.

It was a remarkable turnaround for the Chiefs. The game-tying drive started with just one minute, 49 seconds remaining and required just four plays in 46 seconds.

Second-year pro Marcus Peters failed to contain Chargers’ receiver Keenan Allen for the majority of the first half. “They had an awesome fourth quarter and we didn’t do anything to counter it”, Rivers said. “You’ve got to give them credit, they had an awesome fourth quarter and we didn’t do anything to counter”.

Spencer Ware was the heart, power and soul of the Chiefs offense. Only Ware was able to consistently generate offense.

Eric Kendricks returned an interception 77 yards for a touchdown late in the third quarter, and Danielle Hunter scored a 24-yard TD off a fumble return as Minnesota won in Nasvhille.

San Diego Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen left in the first half of Sunday’s game at Kansas City with a knee injury that could possibly end his season.

When Charles went down in game five with his knee injury, Ware was moved up to the active roster and got more opportunities as the season progressed. San Diego’s first-round draft choice DE Joey Bosa did not dress for the game due to a hamstring strain.
