West Ham’s Noble says they could have lost 6-0
West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic admitted he and his players were “hurt” by the reaction of the crowd after the 3-0 defeat to Southampton at London Stadium on Sunday.

West Ham face Southampton at the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon in what is a crunch fixture for the home side after a bad start to the new season.
It has been an unhappy start to life at the London Stadium for the Hammers, who suffered a 4-2 loss to West Brom last time out, and they remain stuck in the bottom three of the Premier League after a tough start.
“We started all right”, Noble said, “and then “bang”, we conceded a goal and we never looked in it”. Our goalkeeper pulled off some good saves – I don’t think it can get any worse.
This was a win, of course, setting up at daunting home tie in the fourth round against Chelsea, but it showed to all Premier League teams heading to Stratford that West Ham are still shaky and unsure.
Both Payet and the Argentinian Lanzini came on at the break after a disappointing first half against their League Two opponents.
‘These are the same managers, players and crowd as a year ago.
West Ham find themselves in the relegation zone five matches into their campaign, with just one win to their credit. “The injuries are not ideal but we will still have a good team”.
“It was a really tough game and it was not easy but we needed this win for the team and the manager”.
“Some players can play in different positions, and you can fill gaps, but when you have two left-backs who have done the same ligaments it’s not good news”.
The former Olympic Stadium is not a happy new home for West Ham, who may well still be smarting from the recent remarks of club great Billy Bonds after he described it as “not a football ground”. He looks small, but he is not small at all, he is so tough and I think he is good for us. That coupled with Havard Nordtveit’s inability to match the left-back for pace ended in him crossing the ball for Charlie Austin, who subsequently netted his fifth goal in his last four appearances in all competitions.
