UF not sure if WR Callaway (quads) will play

He had 11 starts in 17 games in his three years with the Boilermakers. Trailing the play is North Texas defensive end Joshua Wheeler (18). Neither of the Gators’ first two opponents – MA or Kentucky -eclipsed 200 yards of total offense.

Appleby will be facing a Tennessee defense that has been decimated by injuries and will be minus three starters Saturday.

Florida starting quarterback Luke Del Rio left after he was hit low in the Gators game against North Texas. Florida coach Jim McElwain said true freshmen Feleipe Franks and Kyle Trask also will be readied for possible duty. We’ll stretch the field.

“I don’t think the game plan’s going to change at all”, Appleby said. He threw for 2,777 yards, with 19 touchdowns and 19 interceptions. He also has nine touchdown runs. Eight teams from the Southeastern Conference are ranked. “I don’t know when it’s going to be”. It’s not going to be new to me. “I will never play a guy that’s not ready to play”. We’ve got an unbelievable opportunity to go play in prime time in front of a great stadium, in front of a good team and we’ll see where we’re at.

“We’re definitely excited about the upcoming game”, Vols quarterback Josh Dobbs said after Saturday’s 28-19 win against Ohio.

It looks like the No. 23 Gators (3-0 overall and 1-0 in the SEC) are preparing to go forward without him. Del Rio is expected to miss the next couple of weeks with his injury while backup Austin Appleby starts in his absence.

With one questionable hit on quarterback Luke Del Rio’s knee, the Florida Gators find themselves right back where they were midway through last season. “You don’t ever want to be somebody’s caddie”, Appleby said. “That’s what I want, for our guys to let loose and enjoy the environment, the atmosphere because I’ve been at places where you had to make the rivalry up”. We take for granted everybody in here got on a pair of shoes.

Entering Saturday’s contest, Del Rio had completed 63.2 percent of his passes this season, his first at Florida after transferring from Oregon State, posting 576 yards with six touchdowns and one interception.

On the day, Del Rio went 14-for-25 on 186 yards.

Del Rio was in obvious pain, having taken off his own helmet and tossed it to the ground before any trainers got to him.
