CM Punk gives inspiring speech after his quick defeat at UFC 203

In an interview with MMA Junkie, Mickey Gall said that after beating CM Punk at UFC 203, he was hoping to fight serious contenders in the welterweight division.

Punk, who dominated the wrestling scene at the WWE for a number of years, signed with the UFC way back in December, 2014 and was scheduled to make his debut in 2015.

Punk went right at opponent Mickey Gall from the get go, but this uneducated aggression left him open to a takedown. The fight was a back-and-forth battle as Miocic recovered from an early guillotine choke and took control of the fight to end it with a flurry of heavy punches which were enough to earn him his first title defence.

The gulf in class was evident to all, as Gall reigned down on Punk with a flurry of fists before eventually forcing the former wrestler to tap due to a rear-naked choke at 2:14 of the opening round.

With his debut match in UFC done and dusted, Punk knows that he lost an opportunity to make an impression.

“In life you go big or you home”, he said. This is a hell of a mountain to try to climb, and I didn’t get to the summit today, but it doesn’t mean I’m gonna give up.

Punk was taken down in just seconds after the start of the fight, where Gall quickly moved to full mount – raining powerful strikes to the side of Punk’s head. I will be back, believe it or not.

“I’m just in a much better place. Second-best night of my life, behind marrying my wife”. He did just that, taking out Mike Jackson in 45 seconds.

“Fair play to him because he got in there and fought”, McGregor said. Gall, meanwhile, used the platform to call out Sage Northcutt, which sounds like yet another very smart decision. “They say we’re Dana White: Lookin’ for a Fight young guns”. With this win, Gall – who had specifically petitioned for the fight against punk – improves his mixed martial arts career to 3-0, with all wins coming by submission. I don’t know. I think that’s a possibility. I don’t know. I definitely want to keep going.
