At least seven people died and two are missing after heavy rain triggered floods in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh since Thursday, reported ANI. Relative humidity oscillated between 73 and 91 per cent. Many passenger trains were cancelled on Nadikudi-Guntur section, while express trains from Secunderabad, which normally pass through Guntur, have been diverted as the rail tracks near Piduguralla were inundated.
Standing crops, mostly paddy, chilli and cotton suffered extensive damage in over 41,000 hectares of Guntur alone.
The low pressure that formed over the Bay of Bengal, now persists over Telangana, and the adjoining areas of south Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha. This was the second time in less than a fortnight that Palnadu witnessed very heavy downpour which threw normal life out of gear.
