First Ubuntu-powered smartphones launched in India
The new BQ Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition and the Aquaris E5 Ubuntu Edition handsets will begin selling by the end of this month exclusively through Snapdeal at their above mentioned retail values. The Aquaris E4.5 is priced at Rs. This is one of the first Ubuntu powered smart phones that have been launched in India.

The Aquaris E5 Ubuntu smartphone is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek Quad Core Cortex A7 processor it includes 1 GB of RAM.
It sports an 8MP rear camera with dual LED flash that can record videos at Full HD resolution and a 5MP front camera.
Both devices will be available in black colour and come fully with dual SIM functionality.
The BQ Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition on the other hand features a 4.5-inch qHD (540×960 pixels) resolution display with pixel density of 240ppi.
Ubuntu, an open-source Linux OS structured by a British company named Canonical whose VP seems to be extremely excited about the idea of making their Ubuntu phones available to larger part of the world, can easily support not only smartphones, tablets and PCs but also servers and Cloud.
We have to wait and watch to see how these handsets would face the over crowded smartphone market in India. Both these devices run the Ubuntu OS, while carrying admirable specs as well as impressive price tags. With these two, we have the first Ubuntu powered gadgets in the country – something that fanboys across the country were eagerly looking forward to.
It has 8GB of internal storage capacity but users can expand the storage through a microSD card.

Coming to the Aquaris E5 Ubuntu Edition, as its name indicates, it features a 5-inch 720p HD display on its body. The 2,150mAh battery is also available here, and the phone measures 133 x 67 x 9mm, and it weighs 123 grams. Under the hood, it is powered by the same 1.3GHz quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM found the Aquaris E4.5. It has a 13-megapixel rear camera that is equipped with a Largan lens and BSI sensor. A 2150 mAh Li-Polymer battery powers this device and Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS/A-GPS, 3G HSPA+, 2G GSM network make up for the user’s connectivity needs.
