Giants center Richburg 1st NFL player ejected under new rule

After multiple person fouls by New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.in a Week 15 game against the Carolina Panthers last season, the National Football League implemented a new rule this offseason calling for the ejection of a player who receives two personal fouls in a game.

The defense has given up an average of 32.5 points per game against the Pittsburgh Steelers and Dallas Cowboys.

“The guy that threw [the flag] was after me, but like I said, they were probably trying to cut down on things because of what happened with that matchup, but it is on me”.

Josh Brown would put NY ahead with a 30-yard field goal midway through the quarter, but Washington came back. On the other hand, the Saints converted the ball only 23% of the time. Washington has lost four in a row to the Giants.

“We just have to keep working on it, really, that’s all I can say”, Gruden said. The team let veteran Alfred Morris depart via free agency, and second-year back Matt Jones suffered a shoulder injury in the team’s second preseason game.

Quarterback Kirk Cousins was not at all taken aback when he went into the huddle and three of his five offensive linemen had not started the game.

On the other side, Beckham has not played at the level we got accustomed to in 2015, and has neither broken the 100-yard mark nor scored a touchdown through the first two weeks of this season. You don’t want to become the type of team that is easily predictable for defenses to figure out.

Jimmy Garoppolo winning games?

Su’a Cravens ended the Giants’ final drive with an interception in NY territory. But the player with that dubious honor was Giants center Weston Richburg for getting two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties – including one while addressing Norman.

Jackson’s presence is a great help to the Redskins because they are still winless this season with a 0-2 record.

NY spent huge money in the offseason to fix the defense, and the early returns have been promising.

It’s week 3. The standard is beginning to be set.

In the end, Washington made the big plays in avoiding the 0-3 start. What can the Redskins do this week to not have a repeat performance?

So far, the only evidence we have suggests neither Beckham nor Norman truly has “moved on”, as every coach and player tried to convince us this week. This has been a common mantra since Jay Gruden has been here. The Redskins have not beaten the Giants at the Meadowlands since 2011, and could desperately use a win to turn around their quest to repeat as division champs. You just have to be on your best behavior. “Third-down efficiency, we are behind in that category, and red zone has been bad”. The same problems that limited him in practice earlier this week. Given the Redskins recent lapses in pass coverage, I expect the Giants to try and spread the field.

After a week of buildup centering on his on-the-field altercations with Norman past year when the cornerback was a member of the Carolina Panthers, the match-up produced little in the way of drama. Reports have Norman on OBJ except for when he is lined up in the slot.

Norman, of course, signed with Washington this offseason. He should follow the best all afternoon. That’s likely the more critical part of the game for Washington. The Redskins are going to have t be strong up front. “He does an outstanding job running the offense”. It should be a quantity, not quality focus.

With the victory, the Redskins improved to 1-2 and, at least for this week, may have stopped the panic among their fan base. This should lead to opportunities in the passing game. “I can’t worry about calling a game or lobbying for any type of play”.

This is a huge game with early season implications. They would also fall 2 games behind the New York Giants with a loss. There needs to some added urgency.
