After critics slammed the tweet for mischaracterizing the refugee vetting process, senior communications adviser Jason Miller brushed off criticism, calling Trump Jr.

Thanks to Trump Jr.’s tweet – which carried official Trump/Pence branding – Skittles surged to the top of Twitter’s trending topics list Monday night, with numerous tweets pointing out precisely what Wrigley Americas said: Refugees are people.

Kittos, a Greek-Cypriot by birth who now has British citizenship, told the BBC he never put the image up for sale.

Kittos tells the BBC he didn’t give permission for his photo to be used in that way – or at all.

Kittos told ABC News he does photography as a hobby and took the Skittles photo while experimenting with different flash techniques in his living room six years ago, never expecting it to become part of a political campaign.

David Kittos, who took the photo, said he would never approve of the use of the photo against refugees as he was a former refugee himself.

During the campaign Trump has repeatedly called for a moratorium on accepting Syrian refugees.

He said he considered involving lawyers, but he did not know if he had the patience. I don’t think they care about my feelings. They could have just bought a cheap image from a micro stock library. You can watch the entire segment on Trump Jr.’s comments in the YouTube video below. Wrigley, the CEO company to brands like Skittles and Juicy Fruit, must have been shocked that Jr. used the sugary snack as an advertising method to promote the anti-refugee clause. “That’s our Syrian refugee problem”, Trump’s tweeted graphic read. First off, a recent study showed that the odds of you being killed by a refugee terrorist were 1 in 3.64 billion rather than three in every “bowl full”.

“The American people want a change, and only Donald Trump will do what’s needed to protect us”, Miller said in a statement.
