PM Modi hails fellow Indians for giving up LPG subsidy

Addressing the people through his Mann Ki Baat radio programme, the Prime Minister said: “The country is proud of its Army”.

Saying that the people in Kashmir want peace and normalcy to return, Modi said they have begun recognising anti-state players there.

– Peace and unity is the road to progress. “The administration has to take steps to maintain that”, Modi added He said parents in the valley were anxious about the future of their children who have not been to schools in the last almost three months.

In the wake of the recent deadly terror attack, that took place in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir leaving 18 Indian soldiers martyred, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, during the 24th edition of the his monthly radio programme, said the army “doesn’t talk but replies through their valour”. Modi also saluted the Paralympic athletes who won medals at the Paralympics this year and brought glory to the nation. He said the government will “empower” athletes with disabilities. He said it is every citizen’s duty to make cleanliness a habit.

“As part of Swachh Bharat, about 2.5 crore toilets have been constructed in rural India so far”. This is a symbol of the country’s awakening. Expressing his happiness over the fact that Porbandar in Gujarat will achieve Open Defecation Free status on 2nd October this year, he said media has played a proactive role in spreading awareness on cleanliness. “The process has started”, Modi added. “And in the few days, business activities have begun”, he said. He also complimented organisations for planning to celebrate 2nd October to 8 October as the Joy of Giving week.
