Tulsa officer faces manslaughter charge in fatal shooting of Terence Crutcher
Shelby was booked this morning at the Tulsa County Jail at around 1 a.m. local time and was released on a $50,000.00 bond about 20 minutes later.

Crutcher, whose auto had broken down and was blocking a road, can be seen in two videos provided by Tulsa police on Monday with his hands in clear view before he was shot by Shelby. In the criminal complaint, the Tulsa D.A. says Shelby’s “fear resulted in her unreasonable actions” which led to her shooting Crutcher.
The attorney representing the officer charged in the death of Terence Crutcher returned to Tulsa Thursday night.
“The family wants and deserves full justice, and full justice requires not just charges but a vigorous prosecution and a conviction to those who shot and killed Terence for no reason”.
“This is a small victory”, Crutcher’s twin sister, Tiffany, told reporters. “We know the history”.
If convicted, policewoman Betty Shelby faces at least four years in jail.
Earlier this week, Wood said his client thought Crutcher was behaving strangely and ignored her commands, and that she was afraid that he might be reaching for a weapon.
Shelby’s attorney, Scott Wood, did not immediately respond to telephone messages seeking comment on the charges.
The shooting took place last Friday after Crutcher’s SUV broke down.
Shelby was in police custody for less than half an hour, the website reported.
It all started after a 911 call September 16 from a woman who said an abandoned auto was blocking the street and a man was running away.
Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star guard Russell Westbrook says “something has to change” in the United States following the recent police shootings of black men in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Charlotte, North Carolina.
Campbell noted that Crutcher was wearing baggy clothing and Shelby did not observe a bulge or other physical detail that would indicate he was carrying a weapon.

The incident was caught on police helicopter video and a dashboard camera, and footage of the tragic shooting was released Monday. According to an arrest affidavit, Shelby escalated the situation and overreacted. Graves says Ebert works for the department and that police are investigating whether the post came from him. Campbell wrote in the affidavit that the videos show that Crutcher’s right hand was up and that his left hand was “unobservable” in the videos at the time he was shot.
