Freakish: iPhone 7 users ‘drill hole’ to recreate headphone jack

Some comments under the video suggest that people actually took TechRax’s advice on board, with users reporting that after trying the tip for themselves their phones have stopped working.

The lack of an audio jack on the iPhone 7 and the price of the “airrbuds” seem to have traumatised the users as some of them have drilled in holes in their sets to create a new jack.

Several customers have been drilling “holes” on the new iPhone 7 after watching a prank video on YouTube, suggesting that the process can help them bring back the missing 3.5mm headphone jack.

Whilst you can access other precious commodities such as oil and gold by drilling into flat, smooth surfaces, headphone jacks are sadly not naturally occurring resources and your iPhone 7 definitely isn’t hiding one.

This being an intentional physical damage, iPhone 7 users who drilled the hole in the device, will not be eligible for any free replacement.

David Iriarte posted: ‘ A friend of mine told me it worked for him, but my iPhone won’t turn on after I drilled the hole for the jack.

Toekneechair said: ‘Ok I am sure it’s in the comments somewhere but my friend told me to ask what size drill bit am I supposed to use? “What happened? Any of you have the same problem?”

“Also I don’t have that clamp thingy, can I or my friend hold it while we drill?” I don’t want to ruin my phone.

Whatever you do, don’t fall for a prank that’s doing the rounds, and drill a hole into your Apple phone. It’s understandable to miss the ever-dependable 3.5mm jack. Then give the phone a shake once you’re done.

Apple ditched the headphone jack in favour of bluetooth headphones, which every handset comes equipped with. It is, however, amusing that some of the users, after destroying their phones have still not understood the idiocy of delusions and asked questions about the phone not detecting the headphones.
