Airtel counters Jio with 3-month unlimited data
Ever since Reliance Jio’s soft launch in December previous year, the Mukesh Ambani owned telecom company has been fighting a never ending battle with the incumbent telecom players in the sector.

Idea Cellular claimed that it’s now providing 1,865 ports (+230 percent) to Reliance Jio for access against 565 earlier. Likewise, the long distance carrying capacity will be boosted by nearly 50 percent through this allocation.
But in a statement later, Jio said over 750 calls per 1,000 were failing per day between Idea and Jio networks, which translates to 4 crore calls failing per day.
Idea Cellular recently invited Jio for a discussion to mutually resolve the traffic asymmetry.
“This is a breach of licence conditions by the incumbent operators and severely impacts customer interests”.
New Delhi, Sept. 23: Reliance Communications (R-Com) and Aircel, which announced their merger about a week ago, will bid separately in the spectrum auction where all seven applicants – Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, Idea Cellular, Tata Teleservices, R-Com and Aircel – have made it to the final list of bidders.
Only 50 new E1s have been operationalised by Idea in the last 10 days as a result of which call failure rate has been increasing drastically.
With this capacity expansion, more than 2,100 ports will now be available for traffic between Idea and Jio, allowing sufficient buffer for the future.
“Furthermore, the manner of release of new capacity by Idea and the other incumbent operators is very disillusioning in so far as it is being reflected as a favour to Jio”, it said.

Coming just days after Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) warned operators of action in case of service quality violation arising out of insufficient inter-connectivity points, the statement issued by Idea said quality of service for its customers is a “top priority”.
