Shoe hurled at Rahul Gandhi during roadshow in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi today experienced hostile reception in Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh. The incident happened in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh while Rahul was passing through the city as part of his “Kisan Yatra“.

Police caught hold of Mishra, a resident of Shastri Nagar locality, immediately after the incident.

As per reports, the man who threw shoe at Gandhi has been taken into custody. However, Gandhi was unhurt as the attacker missed him by a whisker.

The Gandhi scion is now on “Kisan Yatra” in Uttar Pradesh to campaign for the Congress party ahead of the 2017 Assembly polls.

Luckily, the shoe did not hit the Congress vice-president.

Yet Gandhi was holding road shows and khat sabhas in UP, Mishra alleged, referring to the Congress leader’s campaigns in the poll-bound state.

An Iraqi journalist Muntadhar al-Zaidi threw shoe at former United States president George Bush, after which the act became common.

Rahul was campaigning in an open-top vehicle in Sitapur in UP on Monday when the incident took place.

“My brotherhood and love will stay with me, your hatred will stick to you”, Gandhi said.
