Former LSU Coach Les Miles Speaks Out a Day After His Firing
There were successful coaches along the way. Though he considers Miles to be one of the best to ever wear a whistle at LSU, Miles’ resistance to change was more glaring than losses to Wisconsin and Auburn. Then you have to fast forward to 1955 to find a successful era for the LSU football program. “His ultimate legacy will be one of the best coaches at LSU, in LSU history”.

LSU head coach Les Miles has been fired, but by now if you’re a fan of the Bayou Bengals that’s old news. “What does he do?”
Though he barely came up short in his bid to win the Tour Championship on Sunday, Ryan Moore received a nice consolation prize. It’s like, ‘Well, I’m playing for my job.
“Damien Harris is still going to be day-to-day, probably won’t do much today”, Saban said Monday.
“All I want to do is to see them win, I want to see them happy and whatever happens after that is going to be fine”, Orgeron said. There’s some things we ain’t done ideal, and we gotta look at ourselves and get better.
Or at least a better job than what the coach already has. Recruits will flock to Baton Rouge and the Tigers will be at the top of the college football world again soon.
This was the first time both of college football’s most storied programs have started so poorly since 2001.
Orgeron talked big with that husky voice throughout his press conference.
Yes, Miles (114-34 overall at LSU and 62-28 in SEC play) had a record that would appear to make him bulletproof, until you look at the past 2 1/3 seasons when he has gone 19-10 overall and 10-8 in league play.
“It’s only September”, said one of the announcers on the CBS television broadcast of the New York Jets-Kansas City NFL game on Sunday afternoon as news of the firing spread quickly. “I kind of hated that a man wins a national championship, wins two SEC titles and doesn’t make it through the season”.
Miles seemed near to going home to his alma mater at MI several years ago, only to remain at LSU.
“I want to apologize to my team, my coaches, my family, all my loved ones, anybody that’s ever looked up to me”, Perkins said. “Nobody cared that nobody else could,”‘ DiNardo said. Compound that with the fact that Nick Saban is the only other coach to have a 70 percent winning percentage who coached four years or more at LSU in over a century.
Saban aside, there is no doubt that access to talent is a huge draw for coaching candidates.

Players – former, current and future – were active on social media, mostly expressing disbelief or appreciation for Miles’ 11 full years at LSU. He was asked if his new position will be an audition for the permanent LSU head coaching job should the Tigers not be able to lure Jimbo Fisher away from Florida State or attract another target. In addition, Alleva appointed defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator Ed Orgeron as interim coach. And there is no reason to think the Tigers won’t reach for the biggest prizes.
