India again violates ceasefire along LoC

India-Pakistan tension escalated afresh on Saturday as forces of the two countries exchanged fire along the border in Jammu and Kashmir, sparking global concerns with United Nations chief Ban-Ki Moon offering mediation to negotiate peace between the rival neighbours. Kashmir, a Muslim-majority region, has been disputed territory between India and Pakistan for the past 70 years.

The two countries, separated at the end of British colonial rule in 1947, have fought three wars in the last seven decades – including two over Kashmir.

The move came after the Indian Motion Pictures’ Artists Association, the main body representing Indian film producers and exhibitors adopted a resolution on Thursday banning Pakistani actors and technicians from working on their films.

The management of Nueplex, a cinema in Karachi, announced their decision to suspended the screening of Indian films on social media.
