Roethlisberger has 5 TD passes, Steelers thump Chiefs 43-14

Pittsburgh jumped out to a 22-0 lead which the Chiefs aided them by throwing an interception and fumbling the football on their side of the field.

Play of the day: Midway through the first quarter with Pittsburgh already leading 14-0, Cam Heyward pushed the contest into “laugher” territory with as good an individual effort as you’ll see in the National Football League, fighting off a tackle and a chipping linebacker to destroy a Chiefs screen play, tipping an interception to Jarvis Jones, whose (hilarious) return to the Chiefs 5 set up Pittsburgh’s third touchdown, a lead from which they never looked back.

It’s always fun to see the Penguins embrace Pittsburgh’s other teams, and naturally that counts when it’s Kessel going to watch the Steelers.

Le’Veon Bell picked up after Ben did his damage with 178 rushing yards. If Kansas City can come out of the stretch 3-1 and have Charles make big strides in returning to his former self, the Chiefs will be looking at a pretty good situation heading into the back half of the season.

The Kansas City Chiefs didn’t put up much of a fight in their 43-14 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night. “We’ll go back to the drawing board”. The Chiefs allowed four sacks to a team that came in with an NFL-worst one on the season and could do little right. “I wasn’t even thinking about (being rusty)'”. He added a fourth before halftime, a 9-yard throw to tight end James with 44 seconds left before the break, making it 29-0.

You learn a lot about yourself after you get your butt kicked, and today, we got our butts kicked”, Chiefs’ linebacker Derrick Johnson said.

But they at least have one running back. “We challenged him to do a lot, and he answered the bell”. (This from a team that anxious about taking a drastic step back at the position when Heath Miller retired.) The Steelers ran the ball well out of the three-tight end sets and were efficient when they threw.

Tomlin, as you can see in the animated gif below, was highly irritated that the officials failed to penalize the Chiefs for unnecessary roughness on Roethlisberger and he had every right to be.

“We knew that coming out of the University of Indiana”.

The Steelers improved to 3-1 and erased the bitter taste of their first defeat the previous Sunday when they were blown out 34-3 by the Philadelphia Eagles.

You own this right now, you wear it, and it stinks”, Smith said.

Four receivers caught touchdowns, headed by Antonio Brown, who had two among his four catches.

Brown boosted his career touchdown reception total to 42 and paid tribute to legendary golfer Arnold Palmer (a western Pennsylvania native) by wearing a pair of cleats that featured Palmer’s image.

To go from good to great, the defense needs to build off its four-game start, starting Sunday against the reeling New York Jets in Heinz Field. But they managed to end their streak of allowing 300-yard passers by holding Alex Smith to 287 yards on 50 attempts, a meager 5.74 yards per attempt. They got it Sunday night, courtesy of Big Ben. They are 2-2 through a quarter of the regular season, and while that’s no reason to panic, they need to make some changes.

Chiefs: are off next week before traveling to take on the suddenly risky Oakland Raiders on October 16. “Tonight it was rough to go through this”.

“He worked all week”, Cockrell said. The Steelers aligned Bell as a running back and a receiver, and the multiple looks appeared to cause some confusion for the Chiefs defense.
