Laurent Koscielny feels that Alexis Sanchez’s magical skills at Arsenal are making life hard for his France team-mate Olivier Giroud.

Theo Walcott has been selected on a shortlist of five players for September’s Premier League Player of the Month award, but were other Arsenal players more deserved?

Since the pair have been in the side, Arsenal have conceded just three goals in six games and none in their last 280 minutes following their latest clean sheet against Burnley on Sunday.

“I have not seen the replay of our goal and I did not see from the bench it go in”, Wenger said.

“There’s no question they give a lot, in their performance, their will and demand and that drive it takes to win games”.

Burnley, apart from being disappointed at losing the match right at the end, will also look at the goal and say it should not have stood.

“I’ve not seen it back but I’m hearing it was first of all handball and offside so you hope these things come back round for you throughout the season, it’s a dodgy decision but we just have to get on with it”.

At such times managers need to be masters of diplomacy as well as motivators. It’s more one of frustration because they have done enough to earn a point after keeping a good side quiet.

“We really wanted to win, we knew it could be a good week for us”. There is no win so gratifying as that which seemed unlikely as the referee considered putting the whistle to his lips.

It was early in the second half when Tom Heaton was called on to make his first notable save, the Burnley goalkeeper diving smartly to his left to hold a close-range effort from Sanchez, after some intricate build up play from Walcott and the otherwise largely anonymous Mesut Ozil.

Dyche’s concession of the ball was strategic.

Vokes’s physical fight with Shkodran Mustafi was the focal point of most the contest, with frequent exchanging of shirt tugs and grappling. “He did a great job during his years at Arsenal”.

Sean Dyche’s side were quicker out of the starting blocks in the second half and Matt Lowton’s cross in the 48th minute was almost drilled home by Sam Vokes at the near post. Burnley headed against the underside of the bar from a corner in the second half, a warning sign for Arsenal. Dyche’s side carried a threat. “It was all about coming here and giving everything”, he said after the victory over Burnley.
