Kentucky will look to recover from Saturday’s clobbering with a winnable game against the Vanderbilt Commodores on October 8. Would you like more proof? Alabama has now registered non-offensive touchdowns in its last seven games dating back to last season’s College Football Playoff semifinal in the Cotton Bowl against Michigan State.

Nick Saban took a couple veiled shots at Blake Barnett on the quarterback’s way out the door at Alabama.

Credit UK to not folding and fighting throughout this game, something we didn’t see in a similar situation when the Cats laid down at Florida and got walloped.

Now, just what exactly did we learn from the Crimson Tide’s home win? Saban said Alabama noticed “he was a little loose with the ball”. The sophomore caught a 12-yard pass on third down to move the chains on the Wildcats’ first offensive series.

The Kentucky Wildcats (2-2) defeated South Carolina Gamecocks, 17-10, last week. They held their own, and they should be proud of that fact.

Alabama has commitments from three of the top five national prospects – running back Najee Harris (No. 1) of Antioch, Calif., Moses (No. 4), and tackle Alex Leatherwood (No. 5) of Pensacola, Fla. Everyone was right (duh).

Calvin Ridley finished with 11 receptions for 174 yards and two touchdowns. But the ‘Cats have managed to win two in a row and knocked off SEC East foe SC last week. Their offense was potent. When Tommy Armstrong and Ryker Fyfe both graduate after this season, the QBs on the roster will be Patrick O’Brien, Tanner Lee, Tristan Gebbia (as a true freshman) and perhaps Zack Darlington.

Barnett is the third player to leave since August, joining receiver Daylon Charlot and defensive back Kendall Sheffield. With Alabama’s lead mounting, Kentucky stopped throwing. Kentucky’s ground game was stopped from the outset, and Boom Williams’ injury certainly added to those difficulties.

Part of the game plan was to get the ball to UK’s playmaker more early and more often, Stoops said.

The top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide are hosting the Kentucky Wildcats in college football action Saturday night. All the upheaval resulted in only four teams holding the same rankings they had last week: Baylor at No. 13 was the fourth, along with Alabama, Ohio State and MI.

Two key Kentucky players on offense, wide out Dorian Baker (hamstring) and left tackle Cole Mosier (ankle), did not make the trip to Tuscaloosa. It was never competitive from that point on. The Tide rolled through United Kingdom, 34-6, at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Week 5.

The Crimson Tide meet up with the Volunteers in what could be an early preview of the SEC Championship Game on October 15.

Louisville appeared to be moving the ball toward the end zone again on their ensuing drive but quarterback Lamar Jackson wasn’t ready for a snap. The teams they’re about to face are better than Kentucky, and they will capitalize. There’s certain things I was taught growing up about not quitting and seeing things through.
