Trump claims credit for Pence’s strong debate
That said, I am still surprised at Trump’s reaction to Pence’s debate performance!

“The key part of that debate was at some points I felt like both me and Mike Pence were debating Donald Trump”.
Republicans spent Wednesday largely praising Pence’s 90 minutes in the campaign spotlight.
As media reports and online polls were trying to discover who won the only U.S. vice-presidential debate for the 2016 United States election, GOP nominee Donald Trump declared himself the victor, further taking credit for his veep’s performance.
Who do you think is the real victor? And Mike Pence showed he is exactly that.
Mr. Trump and Hillary Clinton are now gearing up for the second presidential debate, to be held Sunday at Washington University in St. Louis in Missouri.
I know I shouldn’t be surprised by the extent to which Trump sees everything that happens in the world through the lens of Donald Trump. “Too bad it isn’t Trump’s”, tweeted Bill Kristol, editor of the conservative Weekly Standard magazine.
“The small and bullying leader of Russian Federation is now dictating terms to the United States”, Pence said.
Voters were given seven choices: Trump, Pence, Ryan, Cruz, Rubio, Kasich and Sen.
Media analysts and political experts said that he lost the debate with his Republican rival Mike Pence. “Donald Trump is going to lead an American comeback”. Perhaps former President Bill Clinton most concisely summed up Democrats’ takeaway when he said underwhelming that his wife’s running mate “did just fine”.
“And all the while, all we do is fold our arms and say we’re not having talks anymore”, he added. “And that’s why I’m running”, Trump said. Polls showed him nipping at Clinton’s heels in Colorado and Pennsylvania, states once thought to be bricks in her Electoral College firewall.
The modest compliment, what passes for civility in this rough-and-tumble campaign, came as Pence fielded a question that tripped up another Republican earlier in the week: Is Donald Trump a role model for children? Kaine was seen by television commentators as being overprepared and overeager as he circled back to Trump’s refusal to release his tax records at nearly every opportunity.
“Nevertheless, Pence probably burnished his image for 2020 in case Republicans lose the presidency this year”, he said. None praised Pence in as lavish terms as his running mate.
Pence shot back: “Senator, senator, that was even beneath you and Hillary Clinton and that’s pretty low”.
Like Pence, Kaine also found himself in the role of defender.
She said the vice presidential debate demonstrated “a true distinction between what Governor Pence has accomplished, in growing jobs and the economy in his home state of in, while Senator Kaine – the debt increased dramatically”.
“The other day, we were deporting 800 people, and perhaps they passed the wrong button – they pressed the wrong button – or perhaps, worse than that, it was corruption”, Trump said.
