Auburn back under the lights at Ole Miss on October 29

Ole Miss wide receiver Quincy Adeboyejo runs downfield after a pass from quarterback Chad Kelly in Saturday’s game against Arkansas. Austin Allen completed 13 of 18 passes for 206 yards and three touchdowns. Cornelius lined up in the backfield for the first time in the game and scored with 2:20 left to give Arkansas a 34-30 lead. Two plays later, Allen found Drew Morgan for a 13-yard score. Williams is a star at the running back position, and Auburn has given some yards on the ground, averaging 147 yards by the opponents against them this season. Freshman Devwah Whaley added another 66 yards on the ground.

Arkansas punter Toby Baker won the Crip Hall Award victor for his performance in Saturday’s game. Kickoff was set for 6:15 by the Southeastern Conference on Monday. Damore’ea Stringfellow led in receiving with 94 yards in six receptions while Evan Engram had 82 yards and a touchdown in four catches.

Ole Miss failed to score on its opening possession for the first time all season. Lashlee said the receivers had been on the automatic pass-throwing machine ‘probably more than we ever have.’ And Kodi Burns, in his first year as Auburn’s receivers coach, has been the other major contributing factor.

It was a winning performance, and one that should give the Razorbacks confidence going into their final five games of the season.

USA Today/Amway Coaches Poll: No. 1 Alabama, No. 6 Texas A&M, No. 12 Florida, No. 17 Arkansas, No. 19 Tennessee, No. 22 Ole Miss, No. 23 LSU, No. 24 Auburn. “We still have to come to work every single day ready to fight, ready to go to work”. The offense proceeded to go three-and-out, with Kelly almost throwing an interception on first down, and his receivers dropping catchable balls on the next two plays.

Ole Miss used the reprieve eventually to net Wunerlich’s 33-yard field goal at 14:49 of the fourth quarter.

Allen then began to move the chains with his arm, connecting on a crucial 4th down conversion to Keon Hatcher followed by third down pass to Hatcher which took Arkansas to the Ole Miss 28 yard line. Along with McFain’s ideal field goals, punter Toby Baker boomed five punts in the game, two going for 50+ yards and three going inside the 20-yard line, helping to flip the field time after time throughout the game. And the third-straight with an Allen at quarterback. The reason was, on that fast-paced offense Ole Miss was slaying them with in the first half, the Hogs decided to make them earn their yards. QB Jalen Hurts only threw for 143 yards and rushed for 132 with three touchdowns in the win.

Kelly and Allen should see their respective National Football League draft stocks rising following a terrific outing for both on Saturday night. This was more old-school Bret Bielema football, with a ball control offense holding onto the rock for 40 minutes and constantly getting just enough yards to keep moving the chains. Of course, the Crimson Tide’s front seven is on a different level than everybody else, but Allen took a staggering 46 hits between the two games.
