One of the most impressive-looking first party titles showcased by Nintendo was Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild which was also showcased for the Wii U at during E3 this year.

On Thursday, the multi-international gaming company unveiled the Nintendo Switch, a hybrid gaming device that works as a portable home-based gaming system. The other is a Joy-Con controller, and that’s where the Switch gets really interesting.

From a business standpoint, under-18s aren’t as coveted a market as they used to be.

“Nintendo Switch allows gamers the freedom to play however they like”, said Reggie Fils-Aime, president and COO of Nintendo of America. Sure, the Nintendo Switch has some features that make gaming-on-the-go a deeper experience than most mobile games, but the console may still struggle to deliver a unique experience that gamers are looking for. “And us even more so!”

The console will feature games sold on a cartridge rather than a disc, aa per the trailer. And one worker just said they had better things to do! Its new Switch console, announced yesterday, does double duty as a standalone tablet gaming system and as an accessory that plugs into your TV. Nintendo announced it was developing the new system around a year and a half ago.

The trailer also shows the Switch uses SD cards like the Nintendo DS.

Until we know more, this is all just speculation. The core of the console is essentially a tablet screen with detachable controllers on each side. Sinclair guesses it will be priced in the $300-$350 United States range, which would likely peg it between $400 and $450 in Canada.
