India next host England for a five-match series in November and December.

It was one-man show as Ashwin took his series tally to 27 wickets and was rightly chosen as the man of the match and man of the series.

Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja also contributed with two wickets.

# Ashwin has deservingly received his seventh Man of the Match award in Tests – his second against New Zealand. The 321-run victory is India’s second highest in terms of victory margin.

Cricket fraternity paid rich tributes to India after their first-ever series sweep over New Zealand on Tuesday.

Ravi Ashwin’s off spin has continued to dominate the test series between New Zealand and India as he ripped through the visitors on the third day of the third test.

But Neesham’s admirable effort was ended when he was dubiously given out lbw as Ashwin struck again, Jeetan Patel (18) and Matt Henry (15 not out) adding 23 more runs before Trent Boult’s (0) dismissal ended the innings.

In between, Jadeja accounted for opener Guptill and all rounder James Neesham.

The moment Ashwin dismissed Kane Williamson, early in his spell, for the fourth time in as many outings, the possibility of an early finish was on the cards.

Indore’s first Test match proved to be a momentous one for India with numerous records and milestones being achieved at the Holkar Stadium.

Ashwin destroyed the Kiwis with 7-59 on the fourth afternoon, the tourists bowled out for 153 to fall to a massive 322-run defeat.

Having played Mitchell Santner to the covers, Vijay set off for a run but was sent back belatedly by Pujara, and failed to make his ground as Martin Guptill sent in a brilliant back-flick for BJ Watling to complete the run out.

In a matter of just seven overs New Zealand had lost four wickets to be gasping at 112 for 6.

Although there had been a couple of efforts of substance in New Zealand’s first innings effort, the second innings scorecard made for sorry reading.

Earlier in the day, India declared their innings after Pujara reached his eighth Test ton.
