Jaguars at Titans: Preview, Predictions and More

What was supposed to be a breakthrough season is beginning to look broken yet again for the Jags.

What’s happened instead has been yet another disappointing start.

Both teams are coming off home losses last week, even though both teams were favored. The 0-7 Browns play the Jets (2-5) on Sunday, and the 1-6 Bears play host to the Vikings (5-1) on Monday. For Chargers fans, the game has little meaning; however, the Titans are now in the running for a wild-card spot, so San Diego would automatically elect to cheer for the Jaguars. The offense had struggled to start the year, but after finding some traction against Indianapolis in London, they appeared to have found something.

“New Orleans seems like a fantastic play, but the Saints” defense is just so bad. Jacksonville is in worse shape, though. In the game at Nashville, he ripped off an 87-yard scoring run. He is third in the league in rushing yards and yards from scrimmage. NY is turning back to Ryan Fitzpatrick, who was benched for Geno Smith, who tore his ACL last week. I would love to see the Titans do that a couple of times a game not inside of two minutes, but hey, I’m just a blogger.

The Jags brought in high profile defensive talent Malik Jackson and Tashaun Gipson, as well as adding Jalen Ramsey and Myles Jack in the 2016 NFL Draft. This time, there’s actually something at stake for the perennial bottom feeders, for the Titans are only a game out of first as we approach the season’s midpoint and the Jaguars are another half-game out. The Titans (3-4) last were playoff participants in 2008.

Allen Robinson. He torched the Titans previous year. The Jaguars (2-4) have won two of their past three games. LINE HISTORY: The Titans opened the betting week as 3.5-point home favorites for this electric Thursday night matchup and the point spread hasn’t moved all week.

The Eagles have the NFL’s fifth-best defense but are 14th against the run. Both teams are playing very good defense in terms of yards allowed. For the Titans, they have a rejuvenated DeMarco Murray in the backfield who has gone over 100 yards twice in the last three weeks. But they can be burned, and their offense hasn’t proved to be consistent enough to come back if they get in too deep of a hole. It is a sure fire way to keep Jacksonville in this game.

Tennessee will not have CB Perrish Cox (concussion protocol) or FS Rashad Johnson (neck), but it will take more than a shorthanded opposing secondary for Jacksonville to make full use of WR Allen Hurms and Allen Robinson.
