Audience for Bake Off hits record high

Her show-stopping peacock cake in Tudor week was enough to prove her a worthy victor of the final-ever-final of The Great British Bake Off. Andrew and Jane suffered from under-baked pastry and Candice’s scones lacked cheese flavour.

As Janet poked her for more information on what exactly a fondant fancy is, an unimpressed Candice went on: “They’re these tiny little cakes with butter icing and they wanted like 36”.

Speaking after the result was revealed, he shared: “Candice has been fantastic throughout”. As well as baking prowess, he’s brought bags of good humour and positive energy to the tent, says Heidi Stephens in The Guardian.

Bake Off success would have been the icing on the cake for Cambridge alumni, who have historically gone on to do great things. Frances sometimes stumbled because she tried to do so much with her bakes, but when she got it right she presented some absolutely gorgeous creations.

Mr Smyth told her: “You deserved it, well, well done”, while Kent-based Ms Beedle added: “You star, well done”. 13,000 bakers applied to appear on the show and another all-female finale beckoned, with eventual victor Frances Quinn kicking off what would be a long line of female champions right up until this week’s Bake Off finale. We look at the best innuendos from the show.

Perkins said: “We have made no decisions whatsoever”.

Candice could be front runner for the prestigious title of Bake Off Champion.

He writes for various magazines and newspapers, and makes regular TV appearances to show off his baking prowess.

John’s cookery school offers classes in cooking, baking, chocolate and patisserie, and he even has his own range of stylish mixing bowls and jugs. Andrew pulled into the lead with his ideal bake. He also writes for the Telegraph, and is resident chef on ITV’s Lorraine. Her website features her tips and recipes.

From bright reds to vampy purples, Candice *always* had her lipstick on – apart from one week when she appeared to let her lips go nude. “We were saying we should go on a little road trip and then she can tell me off for buying massive antique things that will never fit in the auto”. Buckingham Palace chose her to bake the Queen’s 90th birthday cake.

The Great British Bake Off will also lose judge Mary Berry, but fellow judge Paul Hollywood will continue on the show for three seasons under a deal reached with Channel 4. But only judge Paul Hollywood is making the transition from the current on-camera team.

He may have fallen short of winning The Great British Bake Off overall, but Andrew won’t be too disappointed to have to keep the day job – not when it’s designing jet engines for Rolls-Royce.
