After 71 Years, World Series Returns To Wrigley Field
Thanks to stellar pitching yet again from Josh Tomlin and its bullpen, Cleveland became the first team in Major League Baseball history to record five shutouts in a single postseason.

“We were just out of the zone way too often”, manager Joe Maddon said. We knew it’s not going to be easy. What’s important is what we feel inside.
The guy has managed 11 of these games, and he’s won 10 of them.
“Fly-ball pitcher with the wind blowing out, it’s insane how we don’t hit fly balls”, Rizzo said. “Whether they get a hit or not really doesn’t affect the way you continue to approach that lineup, especially with a five-run lead”. It’s three games, but still, he’s looked out-of-sorts up there.
Centre fielder Dexter Fowler leads off, followed by third baseman Kris Bryant, first baseman Anthony Rizzo, left fielder Ben Zobrist, catcher Willson Contreras, shortstop Addison Russell, Heyward, second baseman Javier Baez and pitcher John Lackey.
This season the Cubs finished with 57 wins at Wrigley Field, a team record in the ballpark. We got his opinion, and you’ve got to respect the opinion of the doctor.
“We’re capable of making the adjustments that are necessary”.
“I think I’m just used to the way Chicago fans act”, Wallach said. It is worth noting that in the NLCS against the Dodgers he gave up just a single run in a Game 2 loss in which he was beaten by Clayton Kershaw in a shutout then responded by not allowing a run in Game 6 in 7 1/3 innings in helping the Cubs clinch the pennant. With National League rules in that team’s home park in the World Series, it’s a bit different. The Chicago Cubs wanted to put him in the field. There were also four green apples on Caray’s statue – three on top of the base and one in his left hand – in a fitting tribute.
Sending the Major League Baseball leader in ERA to the mound in Game 3, Chicago has the clear edge in starting pitching. All games for this World Series will take place on FOX, with the same announcing group scheduled for each evening.
Chicago hasn’t won the Series since 1908, and after Wednesday’s win, hundreds of Cubs fans gathered in the pouring rain in the rows behind their first-base dugout, where they danced and sang.
He needed nine more outs from Bryan Shaw and Allen, and he got those too.
Tomlin, perhaps overlooked as an impact starter for the Indians’ injury-ravaged rotation, has helped set up Cleveland to take hold of the World Series.
This isn’t the first time that Crisp, who was acquired from the Oakland A’s in late August, has come up big for Cleveland this postseason.
Indians: It will be an emotional night for Tomlin, who will pitch on 12 days’ rest with his ailing father, Jerry, in attendance. In fact, they are one of the best teams at playing away – and winning. Hendricks’ normally sharp command continued to desert him as he walked Carlos Santana and hit Kipnis with a pitch to load the bases.
Tomlin is pitching the best baseball of his life at the flawless time.
“Kluber has made himself, through hard work, one of the elite pitchers in the game”. He gave his dad a performance to remember, giving up just two hits and walking one. But when he got a bit of trouble in the bottom of the inning, Francona wasted no time removing him. “But you try to figure out, ‘OK, what’s our best way to win?’ If we don’t play him out there, that’s the best way to have nobody second guessing me”.
Josh Tomlin makes his third playoff start in the Wrigley opener, while Corey Kluber looms over Game 4 on Saturday night on short rest.

Scoreless into the seventh inning, the game was decided when Roberto Perez singled and was replaced by Indians pinch-runner Martinez, who proceeded to take second on Tyler Naquin’s sacrifice and third on a wild pitch by Cubs relief pitcher Carl Edwards.
