Not Casting an Early Ballot? It’s Time

Catalist said the numbers also show early voting has increased in the 15 states among Hispanic Americans, but declined among adults under 30 in all but one (Colorado).

Republican and Democrats analyzing early and vote-by-mail numbers assume that most voters registered with a major party cast ballots for that party’s candidates. During the primary earlier this year, the total was 446,600.

Michael McDonald, a professor at the University of Florida who tracks early voting data across the country, said more Democrats voted in Nevada on Sunday than they did on the same day in 2012. The statewide deadline for mail-in ballots was last Friday. But the findings provide clues on who is voting, and which party is turning out to vote. But that lead is narrower than 2012, when Democrats held an advantage of 14 percentage points.

Secretary of State Tom Schedler reminds everyone that tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016, is the last day to cast an early vote in the 2016 Presidential Election. So far, 422,677 Coloradans have voted, and things are looking good for Clinton.

Democrats lead in returned ballots, 46 percent to 35 percent. Only 22% of those voting early were black, a lower number than four years ago, which points to a problem for Clinton.

Democrats continue to lead early voting in Nevada about a week after in-person early voting kicked off.

Smith found that white voters cast 70.3 percent of Florida’s votes so far; they make up 64 percent of registered voters. “Compared to where we were this time in 2012, Republicans have closed the gap and Democrats are way behind”.

While the Democratic presidential primary between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders was competitive, the state’s 55 electoral votes are widely expected to go to Clinton. Meanwhile, heavily Republican Greenville County, which has more registered voters than Richland, has had only 20,807 absentee ballots issued. Neither Democrats nor Republicans were likely to change their decisions based on Comey’s announcement. OH reports party registration based on which party’s primary a voter participated in, and 2008 was the previous year when both Democrats and Republicans held contested primaries in Ohio.

Georgia has crossed the 1 million mark in terms of ballots cast.

Nearly 1,500 people voted in L.A. County during the first week of early voting, which began there October 10.

In the same poll, 88 percent of Republicans say they were voting for Trump, but 32 percent of Democrats said they were also voting for the NY mogul. They will then have six days to go to the Voter Registration Office to present the ID for their ballot to count. The court struck down a measure that set a 10-day early voting period, effectively restoring another seven days.

Because the OVO takes a photo of every ballot placed through the system, the Loudoun Board of Elections has a second copy on hand in the event something were to happen to the machine.

Loudounders who wish to vote early can do so at three locations around the county: the Loudoun County Voter Registration Office in Leesburg, the Cascades Senior Center in Sterling and the Dulles Multipurpose Center in South Riding. This scenario would result from one of two possible scenarios: either both candidates receive 269 Electoral College votes, or a third-party candidate wins a state, leaving neither Clinton or Trump with a majority of Electoral College votes.

The uneven rollout of early voting sites came after a federal appeals court ruled the GOP-controlled legislature illegally sought to boost its advantage with ballot access rules meant to discriminate against minorities, who predominantly vote Democratic. They say that as the electorate becomes more familiar with early voting, turnout should rise. A Republican presidential nominee hasn’t won the state since 1988.

A total of 75 military/overseas ballots have been requested, according to Meyer. Absentee voting jumped to 17 percent in 2008, and expanded again to 19.9 percent of votes cast in 2012. By race, voter modeling by Catalist found the white share of OH ballot requests was up to 91 percent from 87 percent. These conclusions were formed by comparing today’s partisan turnout to historical levels from past years.

The millions of votes that have been cast already in the USA presidential election point to an advantage for Hillary Clinton in critical battleground states, as well as signs of strength in traditionally Republican territory. There are even favorable signs for Clinton in Republican-leaning Utah and Texas.
