Eagles fans began turning on Doug Pederson Sunday night; Twitter gold ensued

Tony Romo is now close to returning to the field. Hard to throw an accurate pass when you’re looking out your ear hole. Then Week 9 against the Browns looked promising.

Pederson spoke with reporters on Monday afternoon about 12 hours after his team blew a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter and fell to arch-rival, the Dallas Cowboys, 29-23 in overtime. So there’s no pressure to set a timetable for Romo’s return, and Jones pronounced Prescott the starter for Sunday’s game against Cleveland. It gets Darren Sproles out in space in a “man” coverage look that we have the ability to run some interference on some linebackers, i.e., Sean Lee, who made the play. If one thing has become apparent it’s that Elliott is the primary running back for the Cowboys this season, and we should take them seriously as Super Bowl contenders as long as he’s on the field.

That means the Cowboys (6-1) can continue to delay the question of what happens when Romo is ready. He played in the Cowboys’ only loss, in the season-opener against New York Giants. Maybe that’s something a passive Pederson learned when he leaned heavily and unsuccessfully on his defense to win the game against the Cowboys.

The turning point Sunday night in Dallas occurred with 6:34 remaining in regulation. And there’s a high possibility that they are on their way to their 7th straight win.

Ezekiel Elliott’s National Football League rookie record of four straight games with at least 130 yards rushing end, but the NFL’s rushing leader played a big part on the winning drive with 18 yards rushing and a 10-yard catch that set up Witten’s score. Despite all of the poor throws, despite all of the uncharacteristically bad decisions, Dak Prescott found a way to get it done when he absolutely had to.

A day after getting his first win 27-23 over the Redskins, naturally Prescott was asked what he thought if the wins kept coming while Romo recovers from his fourth back injury in less than four years. The rookie also helped the Cowboys overcome a deficit in San Francisco.

“He’s a class act, and he’s a competitor”, Cowboys vice Stephen Jones said of Romo, via Charean Williams of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. The Eagles are good on defense and coordinator Jim Schwartz has done a great job. Even Prescott noted the poor performance.

What was impressive about his latest outing was how unimpressive Prescott was most of the game.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Cowboys are 7.5-point road favorites versus the Browns while the over/under now sits at 48.5 points. But once Tony Romo comes back, will he continue as the starting quarterback?

Indeed, it was awesome, and Dallas Cowboys fans are now LEGITIMATELY beginning to at least think, if not say out loud, their team has a real shot at being at the Super Bowl in Houston in February.
