How to cast your vote early this weekend

Voters who wish to cast a ballot early can visit any polling location in their county.

Early voting in Chicago and suburban Cook County entered its 37 day on Friday with more than 210, 000 votes already cast in the city and more than 300, 000 additional ballots cast or mailed in from 30 surrounding townships.

Indiana Election Division co-director Angie Nussmeyer says that at the current early voting pace she has “no doubt” Indiana will set a new state record by Monday’s early voting deadline. After the 1824 election, when no presidential candidate won a majority of the electoral votes, the House picked John Quincy Adams over Andrew Jackson (who had the most popular votes) as President. Consider the tremendous turnout in early voting this year. The percentage of early voters who are Hispanic has almost doubled since the 2012 election, from 6.2% to 12%. “You can have really strong early voting”, said Allen, “and all it means is that people had their minds made up or were about to go out of town”.

Polls open at 6 a.m. on Election Day next week. Now you can vote days or even weeks before the election. They were 12 percent of the 2012 turnout and Democrats carried this secular cohort by 44 points. Clinton needs to generate a large advantage in Cuyahoga, home to Cleveland and a Democratic stronghold that’s the state’s most populous county, to offset Republican votes elsewhere. But unlike the Clinton campaign and Democrats, which have been busily organizing and executing get-out-the-vote operations for months, Trump and the Republicans do not have an extensive ground game.

Those early returns so far appear to be favorable for Republican candidates.

– Will Trump achieve even Mitt Romney’s 17 percent of the nonwhite vote? Democrats remain virtually tied with Republicans.

CNN looked at data from 2008 because it doesn’t have comparable data from 2012. For example, in the previously Yugoslav republics of Montenegro and Macedonia countercultural candidates have questioned the veracity of national elections in the past year.

“There were two or three people in line outside the building and then another four or five inside”, said Steven Davis, who cast an absentee ballot with his wife in Independence on Thursday. That’s roughly equivalent to 297 electoral votes for Clinton – again a comfortable lead.

“I was done thinking about all of this”, said Warmack, 51, an auto conversion shop owner in a Tallahassee suburb.

If you cast an absentee ballot, you’re stuck with your choices. If there is a majority victor with at least 270 electoral votes and there are no objections filed by members of Congress, the Presidential election is certified and over. And electronic voting machines that generate paper ballots are fine, but no machine that counts votes should be left unguarded at any time and no machine should be connected to the internet to prevent hacking.

Yet other Republicans point the finger at Republicans who have refused to support Trump. The share of independent voters or those whose party affiliation is unknown is also up slightly.

Polls are showing Trump closing in on Clinton in key battleground states. He deleted some of the tweets after NBC’s Brian Williams said Trump had “driven well past the last exit to relevance and veered into something closer to irresponsible”. The Brennan Center for Justice at New York University School of Law’s 2007 report, “The Truth About Voter Fraud”, by Justin Levitt, offers a haunting prediction of how the dangers of propagating the myth that voter fraud is rampant undermines the core of our democracy.

Trump may hold an edge in OH and Iowa, two states he’s counting on to reach 270. The deadline to request a ballot is November 5 at noon. Eventually, however, 19 Union states adopted some form of absentee voting for soldiers, and an estimated 230,000 ballots were cast from those in the battlefield.

Republicans carried Washington County in both of those years after decades of Democratic domination.

Included in the mix: More than 22,000 absentee ballots requested by Ohio’s active military men and women or other residents living overseas. Their turnout numbers increased at a faster rate than white and black voters.
