Clinton email probe raises political doubts — FBI’s big test
Polls heading into Election Day on Tuesday give Clinton a 2-to-3-point lead over Trump, but Clinton has said she is taking nothing for granted.

In July, Clinton was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation because of her use of a private email server while she was serving as U.S. Secretary of State. Trump has criticized Comey for not prosecuting Clinton, as have some of Trump’s followers.
Trump made closing arguments in MI, calling on supporters to beat the corrupt system. “Don’t let it slip away”, Obama said in New Hampshire.
Clinton, who is aiming to become the first woman USA president, cast her ballot at an elementary school near her home in Chappaqua, New York early on Tuesday morning.
“There is no reason, my friends, why America’s best days are not ahead of us if we reach for them together”, she told supporters.
Clinton communications director Jennifer Palmieri told reporters aboard Clinton’s campaign plan that, “We are glad the matter is resolved”.
The FBI investigation had ruled that no criminal charges can be warranted against Hillary Clinton for using a private email server for government work. The director’s initial decision to make a renewed inquiry into Clinton’s emails public on October 28 upended the campaign at a crucial moment, sapping a surge in Clinton’s momentum and giving Trump fresh ammunition to challenge her trustworthiness.
Any combination of two losses in the three states of Florida, Michigan and Pennsylvania would nearly assuredly result in a Clinton victory.
But nearly 40 million voters have already cast mail-in, absentee or early voting ballots. “Climate change, the most important issue we face, received no coverage at all”. “We’re very encouraged and we’re feeling very positive”.
Clinton’s campaign said she would not be discussing the news Monday as she campaigns in North Carolina, Pennsylvania and MI. “Clinton, actually helped to bolster Trump’s turnout”, he continued. Comey announced the inquiry late last month, sapping Ms Clinton’s surging momentum and threatening Democrats in down-ballot races.
If Clinton wins, she will seek to build on Obama’s cautious but progressive legacy, including his controversial health insurance reforms.
“We were up considerably in all but two of the battleground states where we were tied or one behind, according to our data”, Clinton said. “We are on a good track”.
“They’ve bungled the investigation from the beginning”, Trump spokesman Jason Miller said on CNN. Before the full details were released, some believed it was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump.Trump backers including Kellyanne Conway now believe that he was a Democratic plant – but there’s no evidence, other than conspiratorial wishful thinking. In fact, there are signs that strong Hispanic turnout could provide a big boost to Clinton. Clinton leads Trump by 75 points among black voters and has about a 20 point lead among Hispanics.
On Monday, Clinton will appear in three states: North Carolina, Pennsylvania and MI. The rallies will include appearances by a star-studded roster of supporters headlined by President Barack Obama and rock star Bruce Springsteen.
Instead, she hammered her opponent over his sometimes ugly rhetoric and, implicitly, the alleged covert Russian interference that has poisoned the race.
“I want an America where everyone has a place, where everyone is included”, Clinton said. “I think they just put out phony numbers”. “Go vote – then make sure your friends, your family, and everyone you know votes too”. A senior law enforcement official said the letter meant an end to the email review, rather than a simple status update.
“We’re going to see how things play out today”.
Trump meanwhile pressed his message with voters who feel left behind by globalization and social change, wrapping up with a flourish on his protectionist slogan of “America first”. A New York Times article on Sunday said that campaign aides have wrested away control of Trump’s Twitter account, which the candidate had used to shoot himself in the metaphorical foot.
After a referral from the intelligence community inspector general, the FBI began investigating Clinton for the potential mishandling of classified information as secretary of state.
Trump, a former reality TV star who had never previously run for public office, began his last day of campaigning in Sarasota, Florida. Thus, in the eyes of many onlookers, this action, being so close to Election Day, may have cost Clinton her victory. Trump didn’t just win New Hampshire: He won by almost 20 points, starting a relatively easy march to the Republican nomination. If Clinton wins Florida, she just needs to win one of the three big swing states of Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania while Trump would have to win all three.
“The miners are going to come out”.

John Higgins, of Capital Economics, also said a Trump win “could cause major upheaval”. It is all a phony deal.
