Erdogan, speaking at a press conference before leaving for an official visit to Pakistan on Wednesday, said the executive president should not have to cut ties to his political party.

Erdogan announced the appointment of Kemal Okem at Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport just before departing for state visits to Pakistan and Uzbekistan on Wednesday.

Both officials said the expulsions will not hinder the day-to-day functioning of the school, since the vast majority of the 1,500 staff members are Pakistani.
The Erdogan administration blames Gulen for an attempt by the military to stage a coup in July this year, and has demanded his extradition from the United States.
Such changes would likely alarm the European Union, which has been critical of the post-coup attempt crackdown.
“Turkey supports Pakistan’s battle until the end”, the Turkish president added.
“The recent development in solidarity and support has been the decision to ask Pak-Turk staff to leave by Nov 20”, Erdogan said. Shortly after arrival, he met his Pakistani counterpart Mamnoon Hussain, who hosted a dinner for the Turkish leader.
In all, more than 400 Turkish citizens will have to leave Pakistan.
Some say that Pakistanis can share a thing or two with the Turkish people about their disastrous experience with Islamism.

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim thanked “brotherly country Pakistan” for the decision.
