Google and Facebook target fake news after election

He concluded by pointing out that even Facebook and AdSense profit from his fake news, revealing that “Facebook and AdSense make a lot of money from [advertising on fake news sites] for them to just get rid of it”.

News aggregators like News360 present news stories and includes how many news organizations reported on that specific story with an easy way to read the story from any or all of the sources.

There are a few ways to tell if you’re reading a fake news story. You can also use fact-checking sites such as Snopes, Factcheck.org, and PolitiFact. What the audience ends up seeing on Facebook is determined by who their friends are and what they share.

Recently, Zuckerberg said Facebook will take more action to tackle fake news, yet still denies it had any affect on Donald Trumps election victory.

Fake news can look legitimate, but the stories behind the headlines are entirely fictional. Hillary Clinton will definitely be indicted for her email scandal in 2017.

It took Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg just two days to change from strongly defending his network from claims that fake news on Facebook aided the rise of Donald Trump to saying Facebook will do more to tackle fake news. “Zuckerberg reportedly captured the dolphin with his bare hands while diving in the Atlantic Ocean, several reputable sources told us”, the article read. I still love them, and if they wish to connect, they have my number. If you were to believe the top Google result for “final election results” on Monday, you’d think that Trump won the popular vote in the 2016 election. Nor was I calling sites out for political bias one way or the other, as I’m not inherently skeptical of political bias. He blamed a pervasive willingness among Trump supporters to believe and pass along anything they were told. But in reality, MSNBC was not on the list at all.

The majority of these propaganda-churning websites are based outside the United States, but as a revealing new article in the Washington Post reveals, just as many were housed right in the heart of America. “I’ve never seen anything like it”. Only a very small amount is fake news and hoaxes.

This by no means will be the end of seeing questionable news sites in your Facebook News Feed or in Google search results, so we all need to sharpen our skills.

Studies show a significant portion of the population distrusts “the media”. “And particularly in an age of social media where so many people are getting their information in sound bites and snippets off their phones, if we can’t discriminate between serious arguments and propaganda, then we have problems”, he said.

Facebook, and Google to a lesser extent, have faced a backlash for allowing the spread of phony news articles that could have swayed people’s views of the candidates during the presidential campaign season.

I teach my students about how daily newspapers are folding in communities across the country and foreign bureaus closing around the world. “I bet my numbers would be terrific'”. I will help them in my microscopic way.

Many have called for Zuckerberg to better weed out what’s fake and what’s real.

I know quitting Facebook would be hard for many. These will be much more useful to people moving forward and I hope to help make them all happen.
